You rarely see DJs playing drum'n'bass from vinyl anymore. Jungle? Sometimes. Drum'n'bass? Almost never.

Unlike house or techno (and jungle!), drum'n'bass has pretty much given up on vinyl. The wax is done. Over. Finito.

Why?

It seems like drum'n'bass is hard-wired to chase what's next, technically and sonically. Being ahead of the curve has always been more important than celebrating the classic sound. With this mindset, the scene optimized for fast release cycles and surgical sound. And left the tradition of dubplate cutting and crate digging behind.

Big up to the fanatics and freaks still carrying the flag!

Thousands of euros spent. Back pain earned. Hundreds of hours of practice. Tons of memories of the magic we still love. What do we do now? Just let it fade?

In the perfect space for it: the tiny Hotbox, the coziest floor of Void Club near Ostkreuz. The DJ booth is so close, you can see the DJs struggling. You can literally touch the records yourself and try to save the mix when the beats fall apart - please don't.
